Subtask 2.1 Publish Written Informational Materials to Educate Private Landowners, Stakeholders and Policy Makers about the Pecos River and the Effects of Saltcedar
Three publications will be developed, published and distributed to landowners, stakeholders, policymakers and other interested parties. The publications will cover the following topics:
- A description of how the Pecos River Basin has changed over time and evolved to its current condition. This publication will identify threats facing the basin and will describe efforts to manage saltcedar in the Pecos Basin.
- A summary of efforts associated with this project to monitor and assess the Pecos River Basin, including the development of a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), sites being monitored throughout the Basin, studies of how saltcedar control may affect the Basin, and inventories of aquatic life and habitats. This publication will explain why a watershed plan is needed for the Pecos Basin.
- A detailed description of the Watershed Management Plan developed for this project, including a discussion of how the implementation of the Plan may change current water use practices as well as the consequences of not adopting such a plan. The publication will describe how the plan was developed and will present information on future activities.
Deliverables for this Subtask
- Development of three publications (mentioned above)
- Development and implementation of the project website.
